President Shimon Peres visits BrainsGate

BrainsGate was proud to host the President of the State of Israel and a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Mr. Shimon Peres, in its Caesarea headquarters this past December. We are excited to share with you some notes and memories from the visit of this honorable guest.

In recent years, brain research has become one of the most breakthrough fields in the industry of science. Hu-mans have created tools that allow them to explore their own minds, and the scientific world is exposed to sensational discoveries in this field. President Peres believes that we are now at the dawn of a new era in Neurotech-nology and Neuroscience. His aim is to enable Israel to shape this field and become a worldwide leader, building upon the country's legacy in Biotech and Hi-Tech innova-tion.

To this end, the President convened a group of leading researchers in Neuroscience, Neurology, and Computer Sciences in order to define strategic research areas to be developed. BrainsGate is proud to be one of the medical companies taking part in this noble forum, together with selected academic and research institutes.

During his visit at BrainsGate, President Peres learned more about our company and its technology. Following a short presentation he toured the manufacturing facility, where he observed the implant under a microscope and was shown the assembly of the ISS. The R&D team pre-sented the GuideView system and simulated a real procedure assisted by the Real-Time Support (RTS). Later that day, everyone at BrainsGate had a chance to introduce themselves and pose questions to the President. Various topics were raised, such as collaboration between the academia and industry in Israel, clinical trials in general, and the bridge between politics and medicine, which is gradu-ally being built thanks to the great work of the President and his Office.

The president's request to BrainsGate was to continue pursuing our goals and aim high without hesitation. President Peres believes that we have the potential to make a big change in the way modern medicine is built today. "Like in a concert," he said, "where every player has a small but rather unique role, you as a group, have the potential to make the right music using your instruments, and shape the world of stroke medicine".
